Ana Briones

Doctor in Pharmacy and professor of Food Science and Technology at the Ciudad Real Campus of the University of Castilla La Mancha (UCLM) since 1990, she teaches undergraduate and master's degrees at the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Technologies. Ana Isabel Briones' research activity has been developed as head of the Yeast Biotechnology Group (BioLev) and has focused on the microbial biodiversity of beverages and foods, as well as the genetic, metabolic and biotechnological characterization of yeasts. She has supervised eleven doctoral theses and has participated in a hundred articles in scientific journals, in addition to being co-inventor of four industrial application patents. Likewise, she has led several contracts with regional companies, most of them in the oenology sector, and her knowledge has been disseminated in the oenology sector through popular articles, talks and training seminars and workshops. She is co-director of the Comprehensive Master of Wine, and for 15 years she has combined the tasks of professor and researcher with those of management. During this time she has held positions as vice dean at the Faculty of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of Ciudad Real, as academic director of the Vice-Rector's Office for Research and director of the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Food Technology.
