Dr. Sherif Mohamed Shehata, MCh, CST, MD(Surg), Ph.D. is currently working as a Professor of Pediatric Surgery and Chief of the Surgery Department, at Tanta University, Egypt. He graduated with honors in 1988 from Tanta University and started his residency at Tanta University Hospital. Later, he got training at Cairo University Children’s Hospital. After his Master's thesis in 1993, he started his European training at the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Sophia Children’s Hospital, Rotterdam, Netherlands (1996 -1999), and the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Alder Hay Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, UK. He completed the certified training and received his Ph.D. in Pediatric Surgery from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands. Dr. Shehata got his doctorate (MD Surg) from Tanta University in 2001 and became a full professor in 2011 where he is an ex-Vice Dean for Post Graduate Studies and Research. He is a Visiting Professor of Pediatric Surgery, the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands, and an ex-Secretary General of EPSA. Dr. Shehata is a member of many committees and associations including the IPEG Research Committee, IPEG- ME, EPSA (Egyptian Pediatric Surgery Association), the President-Elect for IPEG-MEC (International Pediatric Endosurgery Group- Middle East Chapter), Chairman of Promotion Committee for Pediatric Surgery, Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities, Editorial Consultant for Journal of Pediatric Surgery (J Ped Surg). He has served as a referee in more than 15 international journals, he has written 3 dissertation booklets, 4 chapters in books, and more than 80 publications including 48 publications in peer-reviewed international journals including 3 modifications of surgical techniques. He attended more than 200 meetings (35 local, 65 national, and 100 international conferences) with more than 100 presentations.
