Dr. Endlakchew Sahle-Demessie is a senior chemical engineer and research team leader at the Center for Environmental Solution and Emergency Response, Office of Research and Development, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, with more than 25 years of professional experience. His research focuses on seeking engineering solutions to emerging contaminants of concern, including developing sustainable water-treatment technologies such as advanced oxidation technologies and desalination processes, strategies to reduce the risks of emerging contaminants of concern, innovative technologies for the treatment of PFAS, and sustainable management of solid waste including electronic waste and plastics. Dr. Sahle-Demessie has published over 130 peer reviewed research papers, 75+ proceeding documents and 250+ abstracts and presentations.
