Ozgur Poyraz

Dr. Ozgür Poyraz received his undergraduate and graduate degrees with an emphasis on manufacturing technologies from the Mechanical Engineering Department, Yıldız Technical University, Turkey. He completed the final year of his master’s education at Vienna Technical University, Austria, in 2008. He continued his activities in the industry parallel with his academic education, working at Tusas Engine Industries (a joint venture of General Electric Aviation) on different projects, including additive manufacturing of aero-engine components. He completed his Ph.D. in Construction and Manufacturing at the Mechanical Engineering Department, Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Turkey. His Ph.D. thesis focused on modeling the powder bed additive manufacturing of nickel-based superalloys. He worked as a machining research and application engineer on process modeling and simulation of aviation components at Technicut Ltd. Sheffield, UK, for a year. He lectured and supervised undergraduate and graduate students in the Mechanical Engineering Department, Eskişehir Technical University, Turkey. As of May 2023, he started work as an Additive Manufacturing Tech Fellow at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre – Northwest. Dr. Poyraz is an author and referee for international journals, books, and conferences. His research interests include additive manufacturing, machining, measurement technologies, process modeling, Computer-Aided Design/Manufacturing/Engineering, and reverse engineering.
