Dr. Niyi Awofeso received degrees in Health Sciences, Medicine, Business Administration, Public Health, and Health Administration by highly regarded Universities in Nigeria and Australia. He has been working continuously and actively in the field of Public Health since 1990. Dr. Awofeso has extensive work experience, at both middle and senior management levels, as Medical Officer in Charge of the Zaria Leprosy Hospital, Nigeria (1990-1991); Acting Director, National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Training Centre, Nigeria (1991-1993); Senior Medical Officer in Charge, Kaduna State Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Project, Nigeria (1991-1995); Public Health Officer, Northern Rivers Area Health Service, Australia, (1998); Public Health Officer, New South Wales Justice Health, Australia (1998-2008); Professor, School of Population Health, University of Western Australia (January 2009 – 2013); conjoint Associate Professor, University of New South Wales, (April 2004-2013); and Professor, School of Health and Environmental Studies, Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (August 2013 to date). To date, he has authored five books, three book chapters and 123 peer-reviewed academic papers published in well-regarded journals and book serials. Dr. Awofeso worked closely and productively with reputable Non-Governmental Organizations such as Medecins Sans Frontieres and Netherlands Leprosy Relief in the course of his public health and academic career.
