Qiuming Cheng

Dr. Qiuming Cheng is Professor on earth resources and geo-mathematics at China University of Geosciences (Beijing). Dr. Cheng received his PhD in Earth Sciences from Department of Earth Science, University of Ottawa in 1994. He became a faculty member in 1995 and was promoted to full professor in 2002 at York University, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Cheng has published more than 250 refereed papers and 17 book chapters. He received several prestigious awards including the William Christian Krumbein Medal, the highest award given by International Association for Mathematical Geosciences, the AAG Gold Medal, the highest award bestowed by the International Association of Applied Geochemistry, Canada Foundation for Innovation Award, and the State Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Government. He served President of the International Association for Mathematical Geosciences (IAMG) and is the current past president of the International Union of Geological Sciences (IUGS). He is a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and a foreign member of Academia Europiea (AE).
