University of Illinois at Chicago

Vijay Avin, Balaji Ragunathrao, has been currently working as Postdoctoral Research Scientist at Department of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois, USA. Dr. Vijay Avin received his Ph.D in Biotechnology from Department of Biotechnology and Molecular medicine, Kuuvempu University, India. He pursued his PhD to discern more about the mechanism-based inhibition of angiogenesis during different pathological conditions. His PhD thesis emphasized more about chemo-preventive effects of herbal based drugs and small molecule inhibitors like coumarin and benzophenone compounds in the inhibition of angiogenesis and elucidation of molecular mechanisms of the action of these compounds in tumor pathobiology. PhD and experience in tumor angiogenesis, led Dr. Vijay Avin to start his Postdoctoral career in Vascular pathobiology of lungs at the Department of Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine, College of Medicine, University of Illinois at Chicago, Illinois, USA. During his Postdoctoral career, his research came to focus on the involvement of cooperational signaling of GPCR and tyrosine kinase receptor to induce tumor angiogenesis and resulted in high-impact publications in well regarded journals and this led him to the career path to become an Independent researcher. His research interests include, tumor angiogenesis and maintenance of lung vascular homeostasis. He combines running a vibrant research alongside contributing his precious time as reviewer and editor of various Scientific Journals.
