Monika Chandani Dayarathne
A senior lecturer at the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture, the University of Peradeniya, Sri-Lanka. I obtained my Ph.D. from Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand, and as a visiting researcher at Kunming Institute of Botany, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. During my Ph.D., I was involved in fungal taxonomy and molecular biology along with advanced molecular genetics vis-à-vis Mycology and evolutionary studies. My undergraduate research project was entitled “Growth management of selected post-harvest fungal pathogens using Endolichenic fungi”. I’m a skilled individual in Fungal taxonomy, Fungal plant pathology, Fungal biodiversity, Fungal Biotechnology, Secondary metabolite extraction, DNA extraction and sequencing, PCR amplification, Phylogenetic analysis, and Divergence time estimation. Further, I have collaborated and communicated at all professional levels including researchers from multiple origins and cultures. Accomplished 1 book chapter, 12 SCI research papers as the first author, and 45 SCI papers as co-author. Furthermore, I’m an editorial board member, co-topic editor, guest editor, and peer reviewer of several scientific journals worldwide. I’m a curator of the Marine Fungi website and the Sordariomycete Fungi website.
