Surya Pratap Singh Somvanshi
Dr. S.P. S. Somvanshi is presently working as Scientist (Animal Science) at Banda University of Agriculture and technology, Banda (U.P.). He has more than 10 years of experience in research and extension in the field of Animal Sciences. Earlier, after passing, M.Sc. Livestock Production and Management (LPM) from Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and technology, Kanpur (U.P.) during 2002-2004 and Ph.D. in Animal Science during 2004 and 2008, respectively from Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and technology, Meerut (U.P.), Dr. Somvanshi joined Senior Research Fellow 2008 on “Characterization and Evaluation of Pulikulam Cattle in its native Tract” under supervision Dr. P.K. Singh Principle Scientist AGB division at National Bureau on Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal (Haryana) centre of repute on Conservation and advance research on Animal genetics and breeding. In 2009 he joined Research Associate in Division Animal Physiology project title “Adaptation and Facilitation of livestock to impending climatic changes through shelter management” under supervision Head of division Dr. R.C. Upadhyay at National Dairy Research Institute Karnal (Haryana). Various research works on climate resilient practices has been done on physiological and stress management studies on ruminant dairy animals and small ruminant animals. Beside this he also wined two best first awards in poster session. In 2010 again he joined as Research Associate at (Central Research Institute on Buffalo) Hissar (Haryana) on “Rumen Microbial diversity in domesticated and wild ruminants and impact of additives on methanogenesis and utilization of poor quality fibrous feeds” under supervision Principal scientist Dr. S.S. Paul. It is consortium project work under NAIP. He joined in May 2011, working as Programme Assistant (L.P.M) Extension and research work on Veterinary and Animal husbandry aspects in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Mandsaur under RVSKVV, Gwalior (M.P.). He joined in Jan 2018, as SMS Animal Science in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Hamirpur U.P. under BUAT, Banda (U.P.). He has vast experience in management of cattle, buffalo, goat, animals. He did his Ph.D. thesis on “Effect of Zinc and Selenium supplementation feeding on quality of buffalo bull semen”. M.Sc. (Ag.) Livestock Production Management thesis on “Effect of different levels of herbal liver stimulant on the performance on broiler chicks’’. Besides, he shouldered the responsibilities of various administrative capabilities viz. In-Charge- dairy unit, In-Charge-Technical cell, In-Charge-Guest house, In-Charge-IFS model, Member of various Committees and so on. Dr. S.P.S. Somvanshi has 121 publications in his credit which include research papers (54), technical articles/ bulletins, invited lectures, abstracts, folders and e-publications of national and international repute. He delivered 09 Television Talk, 25 AIR Radio Talk on various topics on Breeding, feeding, management of various livestock species, Apart from Nine book chapters, he has authored three manuals. Author of 02 Books, He also conducted 20 On Farm research trail (OFT) and 20 front line demonstration trials (FLD) for validation the technologies among the farmers.
