University of Hyderabad

Dr. Swamy Peraka obtained his MSc in chemistry with inorganic chemistry specialization in 2008 from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. He served as an Assistant Professor for master students at Gauthami P. G. Centre, Osmania University and at University College, Mahatma Gandhi University. He later joined the research group of Dr. Nama Narender, principal scientist at CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Hyderabad, India as a UGC-JRF (NET) in September 2010. His doctoral research was focused on “Oxidative Halogenations and Catalytic Oxidative Transformations Using Ammonium Halides and Oxone”. He obtained his PhD from Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), India in December 2015. In February 2016 he moved to Prof. D. B. Ramachary research group, School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, India as a postdoctoral fellow with SERB-National Postdoctoral Fellowship (Feb 2016-Feb 2018). After completion of this fellowship he continued his research in the same group by obtaining Dr. D. S. Kothari Postdoctoral Fellowship (Jun 2018-continuing). During his postdoctoral tenure he worked in the area of organocatalysis, where he developed click chemistry and Ramachary’s three-component reductive coupling (Ramachary’s TCRA) based methodologies for the synthesis of various heterocyclic compounds in achiral and chiral forms. He is currently working on enantioselective synergistic organophotocatalysis for unprecedented organic transformations. His research potential can be viewed through his 30 international peer-reviewed publications (ORCID ID: http://orcid.org/0000-0001-7703-7766).
