Davor Margetic

Rudjer Boskovic Institute

Dr. Margetic has graduated chemical engineering at Faculty of chemical technology, Zagreb University, Croatia. The B.Sc. and Ph.D. studies in the field of theoretical and physical organic chemistry were followed by postdoctoral research at the Centre for Molecular Architecture, Central Queensland University, Australia (Professors Ronald Warrener and Doug Butler). During his scientific career, he has published over one hundred research papers in renowned international chemistry journals, twelve book chapters and four books (Microwave assisted cycloaddition reactions, Mechanochemical Organic Synthesis, High Pressure Organic Synthesis and in preparation Epoxidations of alkenes). His research interests include the synthesis and investigation of theoretically interesting molecules, the study of reaction mechanisms, computational organic chemistry, supramolecular chemistry and the development of environmentally friendly organic reactions using novel techniques (extremely high pressures, microwave irradiation and mechanochemistry). Today, he is senior research scientist and head of Division of Organic Chemistry and biochemistry, as well as head of Laboratory for Physical Organic Chemistry at Rudjer Boskovic Institute in Zagreb, Croatia. Currently, he is president of the Croatian Chemical Society.
