Rajamani Doraiswami

R.Doraiswami ( M'76-SM '85) obtained his B.E. from Victoria Jubilee Technical Institute, Bombay, India, M.E. from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India and Ph.D from Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, USA all in Electrical Engineering, in 1962, 1965 and 1971 respectively. He was a professor of Electrical Engineering at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil from 1971to 1981, and at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 1976-1978. From 1981-2006 he has been with the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada as professor of electrical and computer engineering. Since 2007 he is a professor emeritus at the University of New Brunswick. He has held visiting positions at the ADERSA/GERBIOS, France, the Xian Jiaotang University, Xian, China, the King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dahran, Saudi Arabia, the Indian Space Research Organization, Trivandrum, India, the Delft Institute of Technology, Delfts, the Netherlands, the University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia, and the University of Applied Sciences, Furtwangen, Germany. He was a United Nations expert at the Bharat Earth Movers limited, India. He has done consultancy and collaborative research work with Brazilinian utilities, Brazil, Lockheed Martin Corporation, USA, Tetra-Laval private Limited, Singapore, Siemens Corporate Research, USA, Lizotte Consultants, Biotech Diffusion and the Institute of Clinical Research of Montreal, Biopeak Corporation, Ottawa, S5 systems, Ottawa. At present he is a consultant on energy extraction from river and tidal flows to Verdant Power, USA and to S5 systems on location of objects using Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID). His area of research include control system, power system, signal processing, detection and estimation, navigation, and pattern recognition. He has published more than 60 journal and 100 conference papers. He is a senior member of the IEEE, fellow of the Indian Institute of Engineers and a Professional Engineer in the province of New Brunswick, Canada.
