Mansour Al Qubeissi

Dr. Mansour Al Qubeissi (MPhil from UTC TFMRC, Sussex University; PhD from the Advanced Engineering Centre, University of Brighton) is a Charted Engineer MIMechE, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a Senior Lecturer in Thermo-fluids at Coventry University, UK. He is experienced in computational thermos-fluids and fuel characteristics. His main relevant research experience includes development of mathematical models for the heating, evaporation and ignition of multi-component fuels and their implementation into CFD codes for a broad range of automotive applications. His research efforts have resulted in dissemination of 10s of publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings and monographs, as well as supervision of above 60 UG/PG (including PhD) projects. Amongst concerns about climate change, energy security decline and depletion of fossil fuels, this book explores the high importance of and interests in alternative energy resources. Many studies have shown that biomass fuels are sustainable, environmentally friendly and can be the most appropriate replacement to the depleting crude oil. Additionally, they can expand green landscapes, create new job opportunities, be directly utilised in standard power systems and improve combustion performance. Biomass fuels can be limited due to production cost and competition with food. Therefore, plant and food wastes play an important role in reducing these costs and recycling dump bio-materials. Production of biofuels from non-food biomass has emerged as a sustainable option to tackle the problems associated with growing demands for energy.
