Eustachio Tarasco

Eustachio Tarasco was born in Matera (Italy), he obtained his Ph.D. in "Entomology" in 1995 and currently is an Associate Professor at the Department of Soil, Plant and Food Sciences, at the University of Bari “Aldo Moro” where he teaches "Entomology and Zoology" and “Faunal Biodiversity Management''. During his academic career, he visited a number of universities worldwide and participated in different training programs. He is associated to CNR-IPSP since 2012 and in March 2017, he achieved the National Academic Qualification as Full Professor. His research interests are focused on: agricultural, urban and forest entomology – sustainable planning and management of forest, agricultural, urban and periurban pests of Mediterranean area; ecological role of insect populations in agricultural, forest, urban and periurban areas; insect pathology and microbial control – biodiversity, morphology and biology of entomopathogenic nematodes and fungi in Mediterranean ecosystems and evaluation of their potential as biological control agents of insect pest populations; ecological biodiversity – evaluation and monitoring of entomological and ornithological biodiversity in natural and urban areas. From recently he also carries out research on strategies for protecting agro-forest resources by xilophagous pests in Mediterranean ecosystems. His academic achievements include a total of more than 250 publications including original research papers on national and international reviews, monograph, scientific reports and communications presented at international and national conferences. Involved as a coordinator, consultant or technical advisor in several national and international projects, he is the Convener of IOBC-WPRS Working Group "Insect Pathogens and Insect Parasitic Nematodes" and President of Italian Society of Nematology (SIN).
