Dr. Romina Cayumil has a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. With initial training and industrial experience in the field of mineral processing and hydrometallurgy, she has carried out extensive research in the field of recycling of electronic waste and on the recovery of copper, precious metals, novel carbons. She has also worked on lowering harmful emissions and on reducing the environmental impact of waste recycling and the capture of fine carbon particulates in exhaust gases. She has also made contributions towards the generation of novel carbon structures from biowaste and waste lignin. She is presently working in Dept. of Metallurgical Engineering at the Andrés Bello University, Santiago, Chile.
