Marmara University Turkey

I received my “Doctorate” degree in Physiology at the Marmara University, School of Medicine in 2003. Between 2004 and 2012, I worked as Instructor and Assistant Professor, and in 2012 assumed my present position as Associate Professor at Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Basic Health Sciences at the Marmara University, Istanbul. I have worked in laboratory settings throughout my advanced degree programs. My research interests are “free radicals and anti-oxidants, interactions between leukocyte and endothelial cells, cyclooxygenases and inflammation, renal injury, gastrointestinal motility (stomach, small intestine and colon), inflammatory bowel diseases, gastrointestinal inflammation and blood flow, ischemia/reperfusion injury”. This variety of interests has allowed me to become proficient in the use of several laboratory tools. I have been able to participate in a wide variety of research projects while at Marmara University. All of these projects were grant-funded. My role in these research projects has varied, depending on the topic of interest and size of research team. In addition to my research experiences, I have 24 peer-reviewed articles in major journals, 25 peer-reviewed abstracts/proceedings and 39 non-peer reviewed articles and other publications. These publications have been cited more than 400 times (From Science Citation Index).
