Rui Damásio Alvites

Rui Alvites is a researcher at the Institute of Sciences, Technologies and Agroenvironment, University of Porto, Portugal. He is also an external collaborator at the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences, University of Porto, and a guest assistant professor at Cooperativa de Ensino Superior Politécnico e Universitário, Portugal. He is a junior member of the European Society for the Study of Peripheral Nerve Repair and Regeneration Board and a member and representative of Postdoctoral Researchers at the Associate Laboratory for Animal and Veterinary Science (AL4AnimalS). He obtained a master’s degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro, Portugal, in 2015 and a Ph.D. in Veterinary Sciences from the Abel Salazar Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICBAS), University of Porto in 2021. His research interests include regenerative medicine, biomedical and veterinary sciences, and using mesenchymal stem cells, biomaterials, and animal models for the development of new regenerative therapies from a One Health perspective. He is the author and co-author of multiple journal articles and book chapters. He is also a co-author of internationally registered patents Dr. Alvites is a supervisor and co-supervisor of master\'s and doctoral students in veterinary sciences and regenerative medicine.
