Andreas Grabrucker

Dr. Grabrucker has studied Biology with a focus on genetics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Germany. After graduating in 2005, he received a fellowship from the international Ph.D. program in Molecular Medicine at Ulm University, Germany. In 2009 he was awarded the Ph.D. with "summa cum laude" and continued his research in the United States at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of Stanford University, funded by a DFG fellowship. In 2011, he returned to University of Ulm as Assistant Professor and served as Executive Director of the Neuro center of Ulm University. Since 2017, he is tenured Assist. Prof. at the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Limerick, Ireland. He is a member of the Bernal Institute, and of the Health Research Institute of the University of Limerick. Dr. Grabrucker’s research focus is in the area of translational neuroscience, especially focusing on trace metal biology in brain disorders. Since his Ph.D. in 2009, he has published 8 book chapters and over 46 articles in peer-reviewed journals, among them Nature, Brain, EMBO J, Am J Hum Genet, and Trends in Cell Biology, with over 2000 citations.
