Ivan Bajla received Ph.D. degree in 1977 in measurement science (biomeasurement and image processing) from the Institute of Measurement Theory of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. His research interests include gray-scale and local transformations of digital images, geometry- driven diffusion methods of image filtering, image segmentation methods in the field of MRI and electrophoretic gel image analysis. Since 1998 he has been with the High Performance Image Processing Department of the ARC Seibersdorf research GmbH.The recent 5 years he has been dealing with image object detection and recognition problems, especially based on the vector subspace methods and bioinspired networks. He teaches image processing courses at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
