Salvador Arias-Santiago

Dr. Salvador Arias-Santiago is a professor at the University of Granada, Spain, and head of the Dermatology Department, Virgen de las Nieves University Hospital (HUVN), recognised as the best dermatology department in Spain by the Best In Class awards. He is the director of the Cell Production and Tissue Engineering Unit (UPCIT), HUVN, and is the principal investigator of the Clinical and Translational Dermatology Group TECe19 of the Biosanitary Institute of Granada. He holds a degree in Medicine and a Ph.D. from the University of Granada, Spain. He was awarded the extraordinary end-of-course prize and Sanitas prize for the best resident in Spain. He has published more than 300 articles. He is the principal investigator of six competitive projects and participates in more than twelve as a collaborating researcher. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV), a member of the Trichology and Psoriasis groups of the AEDV, and a former coordinator of the Epidemiology and Health Promotion group. He is the associate editor of Actas Dermo-sifiliográficas and was a member of the editorial team of the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. He has received more than thirty research awards. He has experience in the manufacture and clinical use of adipose tissue mesenchymal stem cells in various pathologies and his team has recently adapted an autologous human skin to a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment for clinical use in patients with severe burns, recognized with the Medalla de Andalucía 2018 awarded by the Junta de Andalucía. Dr. Arias-Santiago has supervised nine doctoral theses and more than twenty-five master\'s theses and tutored residents at the HUVN Dermatology Department. He enjoyed a Rio Hortega contract from the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and has experience as head of the Rio Hortega Contract Research Group.
