Alison Fox-Robichaud

Dr. Fox Robichaud is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine in McMaster University’s Faculty of Health Sciences and a Critical Care Physician at Hamilton Health Sciences- General Site. She holds a Honours BSc in Biology and Chemistry from the University of New Brunswick, a MSc in Medical Sciences from McMaster University and her MD from the University of Ottawa. Following residency training in Internal Medicine and Critical Care at the University of Calgary, she completed 2 research fellowships holding an Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research Fellowship followed by Canadian Association of Gastroenterology/ Medical Research Council/ Schering Canada Research Fellowship. She has been on Faculty at McMaster University since January 2000. Outside of the ICU, Dr. Fox-Robichaud is a Clinician Scientist in the Farncombe Family Digestive Health Research Institute. Her research specifically focuses on the inflammatory responses associated with intestinal disease, obesity, diabetes, septic shock and fluid resuscitation. She holds funding from the Canadian Blood Services and is co-investigator on a CIHR grant looking at a novel biomarker in sepsis. She is a founding member of the Canadian Critical Care Translational Biology Group and the current treasurer. In her laboratory she supervises undergraduate and graduate students as well as mentoring the clinical research projects of critical care trainees and new faculty. Finally, Dr. Fox-Robichaud is actively involved in education from high school through to continuing education. She has mentored high school cooperative education students through the Hamilton Wentworth District Catholic School Board as well as the Hamilton Health Sciences High School Bursary program. She has been an active member of the Critical Care Medicine Residency Training program. She is an inaugural member of the Critical Care Medicine Examination Board at the RCPSC and the current Chair. As a Master Instructor with CRI Critical Care Education Network at the RCPSC she is involved in simulation training of residents, nurses and respiratory therapists.
