Julio Villafuerte

Dr. Villafuerte is currently director of research & development at Centerline Windsor Ltd, one of North America’s premier designers and manufacturers of metal forming and welding equipment supplying many of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers. Centerline created in 2003 “Supersonic Spray Technologies” to develop and manufacture systems for low pressure portable cold spraying technology Dr. Villafuerte is a holder of a Ph.D. and Master Degrees in mechanical & materials engineering from the University of Waterloo. He has over 20 years experience in materials processing technology and has, for the last few years, committed to the advance and dissemination of the cold spray technology. Prior to Centerline, Dr. Villafuerte worked as senior technical director for Tregaskiss Ltd after his previous appointment as director of technology for the Welding Institute of Canada. Dr. Villafuerte is very active in the industrial community, including the International Thermal Spray Association and ASM’s Thermal Spray Society. He is the author of over 40 technical publications and regularly volunteers as technical/strategic advisor to a number of professional and academic organizations. Dr. Villafuerte serves as Technical Reviewer for the ASM Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance, Elsevier Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology & Chemistry and Elsevier Surface and Coatings Technology. He is currently adjunct professor for the University of Waterloo and the University of Windsor, involved in academic and research activities with these institutions.
