Maneesha Sudheer

Dr. Maneesha V. Ramesh is currently the Chairperson of the “AMRITA Center for Excellence in Wireless Networks & Applications” and also the “Office of Indo-US & International Initiatives” at Amrita University. She received her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science Engineering from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (AMRITA University), India. Her research work was on “Wireless sensor networks for landslide detection” which was instrumental in deploying India’s first ever real-time wireless sensor network for landslide detection and in developing a large scale landslide simulation laboratory set up. She has an MBA degree with specialization in Systems management and Finance management, from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. She is an alumnus of Kerala University, with a B.Tech. degree in Production Engineering (Mechanical Stream). From April 2003 onwards, she is the faculty of Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, AMRITA University, India. She has represented and led Amrita in many International collaborations and projects such as WINSOC (, Indo-Brazil, Indo-German projects. She has also served as the Principal Investigator for many projects taken up by AMRITA. She serves as the Technical Program Committee of SENSORCOMM 2010 and has several international publications in her name. Her paper “Real-Time Wireless Sensor Network for Landslide Detection” was awarded a top paper award in the conference SENSORCOMM 2009 held in Athens, Greece. She has been invited to deliver research presentations in more than 30 prestigious international universities such as University of California, Berkley, San Diego, Los Angeles, Santa Cruz, Harvard, Standford, MIT, USGS, Purdue University, University of Illinois, etc., in USA, EPFL and ETH in Switzerland, University of Helsinki, Finland, University of Twente, Vrije University, and ITC at Netherlands, UPC in Spain, University of Toreno in Italy, University of Montepilliar II, Eurecom, and University of Grenoble in France, University of Mannhiem, and University of Paderborn in Germany Her research areas include wireless sensor networks for disaster management, wireless networks for bio-nano-medical applications, wireless sensor network algorithms, wireless network design and development, etc. She is also delivering various courses on Computer Networks, Wireless Sensor Networks and Algorithms for Wireless Sensor Networks to the M.Tech. Students. All her work always caters to societal needs and she is also interested in developing India’s upcoming young scientists.
