A.K.M. Nurul Amin
Prof. A.K.M. Nurul Amin completed his Ph.D. in Technical Sciences from Volgograd Poly Technique Institute of the former USSR in 1982. He started his teaching and research career at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) from 1983 and retired as a Professor in 1997 and moved to his current job at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), where he worked as the Head of a department for a total duration of 7 years. Currently Prof. Amin is a senior Professor at the Manufacturing and Materials Engineering Departments of IIUM and working as the Executive Editor of the IIUM Engineering Journal. He has supervised many Ph.D. and Master Students. Prof. Amin has filed 7 patents and is the holder of the first IIUM patent on Chatter Suppression in metal cutting using online heating. He has so far published 8 books and edited 5 books including the current one and has published over 250 articles in international journals and conference proceedings. His current research interests are in: chatter control in metal cutting, high speed machining of metals and non metallic materials and heat assisted machining of difficult-to-cut metals and alloys including titanium alloys, Inconel 718 and hardened steels.
