Personal data My name is Pavel DOLEŽAL, I was born on 4-th June 1959 in Bratislava. My father was physician, he worked at the Department of Plastic Surgery in Bratislava. He died in 1985. My mother is piano teacher, now retired. My wife, Eva DOLEŽALOVÁ M.D. is a regional pediatrician in Šamorín (near Bratislava). We have three children in the age of 21, 22 and 25 years. Education In 1965 I started my education in the basic school, followed by secondary school in 1974 with education of english language. After school leaving examination I was admited to the Medical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava. I finished my study in 1984. Profesional development From 1984 I started to work as a resident in Otorhinolaryngologic Department of University Hospital in Bratislava. In 1988 I became assistant on Chair of Otorhinolaryngology in Postgraduate School of Medicine ( now Slovak Health University ) in Bratislava. I finished my residency in 1992. My teaching, scientific and medical activities in the field of Otorhinolaryngology are still developing in this working place. Scientific degree PhD I have got in 1995 after successful defence of my disertation theses „ Utilization of CO2 laser in the treatment of laryngeal stenosis“ . In 2005 the Medical Faculty Scientific Commitee appointed me to be associate professor of Otorhinolaryngology. My reader theses were Septorhinoplasty. In 2006 I was appointed to a position assistant professor of Otorhinolaryngology on Slovak Health University in Bratislava. I wrote one monography dealing with Septorhinoplasty, I am coauthor of two books, I have 46 publications in Slovak and Czech ENT journals, about 100 lectures in Slovakia, Czech republic, Croatia, Portugal Spain, Belgium,and U.S.A. As a visitng surgeon I operated several patients during last 10 years in Slovak regional hospitals and one case in Bosnia and Hercegovina. Study stays I visited Departments and Clinics of Otorhinolaryngology in Moscow, Jerevan and Odessa (former Soviet Union in 1988), San Francisco (1993), Linz (1994), Utrecht (1995) and Rochester (Mayo Clinic 2000) Current position Since 1996 I am the Head of E.N.T. chair on Slovak Health University, I am responsible for the postgraduate training programm in Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery in Slovakia. Scientific secretary od Slovak E.N.T. Society from 1998. Since 2010 I am a Fellow of European Board of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and a Member of European Board of Examination (EBEORLHNS).
