Vesna Javor

University of Nis Serbia

Vesna Javor was born in Nis, Serbia, in 1961. She received the Dipl. Eng. degree, M. Sc. degree, and Ph. D. degree from the University of Nis, Faculty of Electronic Engineering, Serbia, in 1985, 1999, and 2009, respectively. From 1985 to 1988, she was working at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering, University of Nis, were she is currently with Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering. From 1989 to 1992, she was a system analyst and the head of Automatic Data Processing Service in Tankerkomerc, Zadar, Croatia. She was the recipient of the Best student award and the Charter of the University of Nis, in 1985. She had the M. Sc. scholarship of the Serbian Academy of Sciences, and Ph. D. scholarship of the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD), in 2000. She participated in fundamental research and scientific projects of the Serbian Ministry of Sciences in the fields of electromagnetics, microwave technique and optical telecommunications, lighting, cable manufacturing, etc. She participated in the DAAD Project Theoretical electrical engineering, 2000-2004, and University network for academic training in EE&IT in SEE -ELISE, 2009-2010. From 2005 to 2007, she was the manager of the International project Electrical Engineering (EE) in the framework of Stability Pact for South-Eastern Europe, sponsored by DAAD. From 2004 to 2009, she was the participant of the COST Project Action P18 The physics of lightning flash and its effects, and she initiated including Serbia in the international network LINET for lightning detection which she realized in 2008. She is an author or co-author of more than eighty papers published in journals or presented at conferences, and of several textbooks. Her research interests include antenna theory, lightning modeling and protection, electromagnetic compatibility, electric circuit theory, and computer programs in electromagnetics. She is the chairman of the International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics (PES), the founder and the Chair of IEEE EMC Society Chapter of the Serbia and Montenegro Section, and the member of COMPUMAG Society and OIPE Community.
