Scientific Advisors for 2016/2017

21 June 2016

The scientific quality of 2,618 fully Open Access books published by IntechOpen is made possible, in part, by the editorial engagement of experts that take on the role of our Academic Editors. To date, over 2,200 Academic Editors have collaborated with us, many of them returning to edit multiple times.

Each year we invite some of our Academic Editors to become Scientific Advisors and offer support with their expertise and input. Our Scientific Advisors are international experts from all major scientific fields and work with us to ensure that our endeavours meet the requirements and needs of the scientific community.

We are pleased to announce the Scientific Advisors for 2016-2017.

We asked some of our newly appointed Scientific Advisors what motivated them to work with us through the years and edit books. Here is what they had to say:

Juan A. Blanco, Senior Researcher & Marie Curie Research Fellow Dep. Ciencias del Medio Natural, Universidad Publica de Navarra, Spain

“When I was invited to edit a book for IntechOpen for the first time, I decided to accept the invitation as I had never edited a book before and I thought it would be a good professional experience. The call for contributions to that book was so successful that it became three volumes rather than a single book. Later, I was impressed by the high number of downloads that the books were experiencing, a fact that was key in my decision to accept IntechOpen’s invitation for the other two books (and another one coming up!) as I could see how successful the Open Access model was in making research available to anybody around the world with an internet connection.”

Margarita Stilianova Stoytcheva, Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, Instituto de Ingenieria, Baja California, Mexico

“During the last years, I was interested in the establishment of a good practice for scientific writing, since I was involved in teaching a related course at the postgraduate level. Therefore, the opportunity to collaborate with IntechOpen enriched my academic experience.”

Hesham Abd El-Dayem, National Liver Institute, Menofia University, Egypt

“The IntechOpen family is a very dedicated, cooperative and pleasant team. I enjoyed working with them for the past years and wish to work with them for more and more years.”

Waldemar A. Monteiro, Materials Science and Technology Center, Nuclear and Energetic Researches Institute Sao Paulo, Brazil

“Initially, IntechOpen invited me to edit a book concerning metallic material, specifically magnesium alloys, due to my expertise in this area. After that came the second open book on magnesium and alloys, which helped me find new aspects of light materials applications during editing. The third book also related to light materials (aluminium and magnesium), and the fourth and the fifth open books are also of my expertise area (I have worked with nuclear materials for 40 years, until now). The response concerning the free download of book chapters is the best motivation for me (the global interest in our open books). Researchers and students from all over the world connecting with our work is the best fulfillment.”

Sivakumar Gowder, Qassim University /College of Applied Medical Sciences (Ministry of Higher Education), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

“I have an interest in editing. IntechOpen publisher maintains the scientific and ethical standard, and hence, it drives me to work with them.”
