IntechOpen Continues Partnership With Book Aid International, Making Books Available to Education-Disrupted Countries in Africa and Beyond

23 April 2024

IntechOpen is proud to continue its partnership with Book Aid International and announce its  latest book donation. This is our second contribution to the UK's leading book donation and library support charity that envisions a world where everyone can access books to enrich, improve and change their lives. Book Aid International focuses its work on low-income countries in Africa and beyond, often in areas where conflict has disrupted education or where university faculties face a scarcity of new books.

As a native Open Access publisher, we are committed to making knowledge available to all, and we are pleased when we can extend this vision beyond the digital format. The Books donated to Book Aid International represent a selection of print-on-demand sample copies and office copies collected over the years.

Our aspirations coincide with the BookAid's mission of giving people worldwide who lack access to books the opportunity to study and embrace lifelong learning.

Alison Tweed, Chief Executive of Book Aid International, said:

“We are delighted to continue our partnership with IntechOpen. Their generous donation of academic and medical books supports our common belief that information, knowledge and research should be accessible to everyone. In supplying recently published books to universities, hospitals and public libraries worldwide, we can give access to the latest research and knowledge, bridging educational gaps and fostering future generations of professionals, leaders and innovators."

Dr. Sara Uhac, Chief Executive Officer at IntechOpen, added:

"We are pleased with this ongoing partnership that aligns with our fundamental belief that science should be open, everyone should have access to knowledge, and that we should unite to break down barriers and inequalities. IntechOpen will continue to support BookAid International regularly in its noble mission to share the power of books with millions of people around the world."
