The subject of topology is a very active area of research. It has a long history dating back to the start of the 20th century and continues to the present. It deals with properties or configurations of geometric objects that are not changed by homomorphisms in particular.
Topology is not only investigated and researched in its own right, but it also comes up in subjects discussed that arise in other areas of mathematics and physics as well. It has recently appeared in the subject of biology and knot theory. Hopefully, this book will collect as many papers as possible that touch on these subject areas in one way or another. They can be centred on pure math topics or on any of the many applications studied at the moment and already mentioned. One or two areas in which this subject plays a major role are differential geometry and differential topology.
