About the book

A ligament is the fibrous connective tissue that connects bones to other bones. Ligaments are similar to tendons and fasciae as they are all made of connective tissue. The differences among them are in the connections that they make- ligaments connect one bone to another bone, tendons connect muscle to bone, and fasciae connect muscles to other muscles. The ROM and the stability of the joints are accomplished due to ligaments. Each joint has specific ligaments; for example, the knee has anterior cruciate, posterior cruciate, medial, and lateral collateral ligaments. Ligaments cannot usually be regenerated naturally, and that's why when there is a serious injury such as rupture, ligament reconstruction is recommended, especially for young adults. This book will analyze the most common ligament injury in the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle, the reconstructive surgery that should be performed, and the rehabilitation protocol that should be followed after the reconstructive surgery.
