Holograms are an interesting way to store and display 3D object information. To make this technology more efficient, researchers are developing photosensitive materials that can record holograms while preserving the object information for a long time. These materials should also allow for nonvolatile readout, erasable and re-recordable properties, and have high refractive index modulation or high phase recording dynamic range. Researchers are also exploring the use of the same or different laser wavelengths for recording and display, as well as minimising colour display distortion. Additionally, there have been developments in computational techniques and the formation of high-efficiency digital holograms, which can display artificial objects, art, or presentation information with the ability to be transmitted remotely. This book aims to compile the latest technological advances in holographic materials, dynamic hologram recording and readout techniques, colour display and distortion minimisation, and digital hologram computational methods and fabrication techniques.
