Waleed Al-Marzooqi

Dr. Waleed Al-Marzooqi joined Sultan Qaboos University in 1994 as the first Omani demonstrator in the Department of Animal & Veterinary Sciences (AVS) and became an Assistant Professor after completing his PhD program in 2003 at the University of Nottingham, UK. Dr. Waleed Al-Marzooqi was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012 and afterward was appointed as HOD for the AVS Department from 2013 to 2019. Dr. Waleed Al-Marzooqi research has been widely published in leading refereed journals and has presented the findings of his research at both national and international conferences. Dr. Waleed Al-Marzooqi publications include 62 papers published in refereed journals, 3 book chapters, and 38 conference presentations. Dr. Waleed Al-Marzooqi has been the Principal, Co-Principal, or Co-Investigator of 22 internally and externally funded research projects. The funding for all projects was with totaled R.O. 568,215.26 (1,325,685.39 USD). Dr. Waleed Al-Marzooqi research areas embrace meat production from farm animals including poultry, early nutrition utilization, gastrointestinal tract development, evaluation of growth performance of exotic/indigenous breeds under Omani conditions, use of agricultural by-products for feeding poultry and small ruminants, and application of molecular tools to study brucellosis in ruminants.
