Scope
The worldwide prevalence of arrhythmia has increased over the past two decades. It is anticipated that the incidence of arrhythmia will continue to rise due to the growing number of elderly people in the population, improved screening techniques, and earlier detection through artificial intelligence and consumer wearable devices. The increasing arrhythmia burden has been associated with increased rates of death, morbidity, and resource utilization. As more of the population is affected by an arrhythmia, accurate early diagnosis and management with effective therapies will be crucial. This topic aims to present the fundamentals of cardiac electrophysiology, mechanisms involved in arrhythmia development, updated methods of arrhythmia screening, and advances in therapeutic options.
