About the book

Since the evidences of the missing mass problem in galaxies and clusters of galaxies in the 30´s and the proper explanation for the accelerated expandind universe in the late 90’s, the dark matter and dark enegy proposals dramatically changed how to think about gravity. Moreover, the compelling evidences on gravitational waves in 2015, precisely the GW150914 event from a coalescent black hole binary system, a new brick was added to the wall of general theory of relativity, regarded as a new triumph of Einstein's intent. This motivated a total new exploration of the gravitational physics in the XXI century with a brand new era for theoretical, observational and experimental areas of physics and astronomy. All such excitement is justified by the possibility to open a new window to understand the gravitational phenomena in all its facets, and a new path for a unified theory of quantum mechanics and gravitation might be enlightened. "Modern Trends in Gravitational physics" intends to provide the readers, specialists and non-specialists alike, with a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art and recent and future developments covering the fundamental domains of gravitational physics science.

Publishing process

Date completed: August 6th 2019

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Deadline Extended: Open for Submissions

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: October 26th 2019

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: January 14th 2020

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: March 14th 2020

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

About the editor

Abraao Capistrano

Universidade Federal da Integração Latino-Americana

Abraão Jessé Capistrano de Souza is currently an Adjunct professor IV at University of Latin American Integration (Brazil) and has been working on several problems in mathematical physics, quantum fields, astrophysics, cosmology and gravitation, specifically on gravitational waves, hidden symmetries and killing vectors, embeddings and differential forms, and black holes in embedded space-times. He is the author of more than 25 papers published in refereed journals and books. He is as well a referee in scientific journals. He also performs studies in space sciences and robotics with undergraduate engineering students and does activities in teaching physics and astronomy to a broader audience through institutional extension projects.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mrs. Ketrin Polesak

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
