About the book

The main concern of this book is to address new challenging research and findings related to environmental emissions, pollution, and future sustainability. This book should combine scientific and engineering knowledge within different fields and perspectives. Researchers, scientists, and engineers in field of environmental science, pollution, air quality, emission, waste, toxicology, energy systems, energy storage, energy sustainability, and climate change are all welcome to participate.

The book should discuss following issues: air pollution, pollutants, pollutant control, industrial pollution, transport emissions, vehicle emissions, ultrafine particles, nanoparticles, Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH), NOx, SOx, particulate matter (PM), carbon black (CB), particulates, soot, carbonous particles, graphene, volatile organic compounds (VOC), aerosols, acid gases, carbon emissions, CO2, heavy metals, toxicity, nanotoxicology, pulmonary toxicity, wastewater, water toxicity, water purification, water treatment, contamination, hydrogen production, renewable energy, energy supplies, advanced power generation, storage system, biogas, biofuels, solar fuels, carbon capture etc. And also other topics that are in close relation with the environment, emissions and sustainability are all welcome.

Publishing process

Book initiated and editor appointed

Date completed: December 6th 2019

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Deadline Extended: Open for Submissions

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: February 25th 2020

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: May 15th 2020

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: July 14th 2020

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Richard Viskup was born in former Czechoslovakia in 1977, in the city of Bratislava, nowadays capital of Slovak Republic. He obtained his master degree MSc. in plasma physics, doctor in natural science RnDr. in physics, and scientific - academic degree doctor of philosophy PhD. in laser plasma physics from Comenius University in Bratislava. He received his postgraduate research degree MPhil. in photonics from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland, UK and engineering doctorate Dr.Eng. in applied physics from Johannes Kepler University Linz in Austria. His current research is related to exhaust emissions and diagnostics, development of new measurement technique for particulate matter and soot emissions characterisations, analytical measurement of emissions from vehicles, spectroscopy, major and trace element detection in different materials. His research and interests are oriented in wide directions from physics, applied physics, material science and analysis, radiation physics, photonics and lasers, ultrafast lasers, high power lasers, radiation and particle emission from plasma, accelerators, particle acceleration, laser induced plasma processes, to analytical techniques in laser spectroscopy, optical emission spectroscopy, atomic and molecular spectroscopy and plasma spectroscopy.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Sara Debeuc

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
