About the book
Nitrogen is an essential nutrient in plant nutrition, which is the most required by plants growth and primary agriculture yield. Most soil around the world is not able to supply N for plants to obtain adequate biomass growth under the absence of N-fertilizer, thus the use of N sources is inevitable for most crops. Nitrogen fixation is quite important for sustainable agriculture as soybean crop and other legumes that use the most N requirement from the atmosphere. Nitrogen fertilizer in agriculture is considered of higher price because the energy used to make N sources are very expensive. The use of N-fertilizer may cause severe damage to the environment, the majority because of nitrous oxides (N2O) emission and NO3/NO2 leaching in groundwater, resulting in increasing global warming and water contamination.
The book chapters will present the newest advances and ample information about N in agricultural systems around the world focused on Nitrogen fixation in agroecosystems.
