About the book

This book will provide the multidisciplinary reader with comprehensive state-of-the-art overview of research, technologies and innovations related to iron ores and their applications. The content embraces industrial sectors and technologies dealing with exploration and processing of iron ores and therefore covers wide range of research fields including geoscience, exploration, resource development, comminution, beneficiation, agglomeration (pelletizing, sintering, briquetting), reduction and smelting, etc. Our approach encourages lifecycle thinking and holistic understanding of innovations and industrial synergies across the entire production chain.

Advanced research methods will be also broadly represented with focus on mineralogy, characterization, mechanical and physicochemical properties. With iron being a basis for industrial development sustainable future depends upon our ability to address the growing demand for steel while decoupling emissions from economic growth in order to tackle climate crisis. Therefore, chapters dealing with the environmental and economic sustainability aspects are appreciated.

Although iron ores have been explored and studied for millennia, in permanent processes of research and innovation, new, often interdisciplinary, topics arise. We do not limit authors only to traditional themes and welcome the chapters reflecting cutting-edge research beyond the conventional boundaries.

Publishing process

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mr. Josip Knapic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copy-editing and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
