About the book
Metabolic syndrome is a syndrome caused by obesity, high blood pressure, and glycemia. Obesity has become a challenging epidemic, and Obesity-related Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) lead to millions of deaths all around the world
This book aims to provide new insights into metabolic syndrome. The mechanisms of foods intake and appetite will be analyzed. The book will also try to elucidate the peripheral and central controls of appetite. It will then correlate between obesity and diabetes mellites. There is also an increased incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus in the world, and no effective treatments are available yet. Therefore the elucidation of the relationship between metabolic syndrome and diabetes is one of the most urgent tasks for clinicians.
Patients with metabolic syndrome often suffer from thromboembolism in the peripheral blood vessels, and thrombosis of coronary blood vessels results in acute coronary syndrome. These patients can also suffer from a stroke. Because of these reasons, the relationship between metabolic syndrome and thromboembolism should be discussed in detail. It is expected that this approach will result in the development of new diagnostic applications and therapies.
