Cyber-physical system (CPS) has become popular since the introduction of 4.0 Industry Revolution jargon. Historically, CPS is not a new system but its terminology becomes booming lately. The introduction of the Internet at the end of the 1960s has changed the world landscape and initiated the formation of various new technologies which make use of the Internet. Conceptually, CPS is the combination of cyber system and physical system where the latter is controlled or driven by the first, and the controlling information is sent through the cyberspace. CPS in its very simple form can be represented by a computer that is connected to the Internet where it is also connected to equipment under its control. CPS has very diverse applications and affects humankind all over the world. Most of CPS applications are in the fields which may bring high-risk to the people such as surveillance in the areas which have not been touched by human, equipment installation/repairment in the depth of the sea, or microsurgery to the body parts which may bring high risk if it is done by a human. The application of CPS can deliver many advantages to military operations and military-like operations such as search and rescue, and disaster relief, which may bring high-level of casualty. In industry, CPS on one side gives advantages in terms of time, speed, and labor which in turn reducing the production cost. On the other hand, applying CPS needs a high-degree precision when performing tasks because time and speed will not be useful if the safety is neglected. High-degree precision is needed in critical industries such as aviation and manufacture as well as for sectors which apply distributed networks such as supply chain. Therefore in the design of CPS, the balance between the production cost and the safety has to be considered from the beginning. The benefits of using Artificial Intelligence should also be considered in designing and applying CPS for special cases which are needed a human-intelligence-like aspect to ease tasks.
