About the book

There is no doubt that technological innovations are striking our world every single day. New technical trends revolutionize our ways of living and working. However, the changes in engineering education methods, especially in STEM (science, engineering, technology, and mathematics) fields, are still minor and do not follow the notable acceleration of daily breakthrough technologies. In the era of big data, machine learning, and the Internet of things, a revolution on education engineering is required.

This book shows the divergence between engineering education and professional engineering. It proposes a guide on how to equip future engineers with the necessary tools to drive further technical advancements in the decades to come. We describe new and adaptive approaches to education engineering, not limited to conventional programs and instructions, but inspired by technological prowess and taking full advantage of them. In addition, as the marketplace is becoming more competitive and global, reforms in engineering education must involve technical and non-technical skills (management, economics, collaboration, ethics, ...) of tomorrow's engineers. The education concepts and learning methods must revolve around real-life problems and not only simplified curriculum problems.

This book highlights the interest of including the industry partners as the main actor in transformational changes in engineering education. It is time to re-engineer engineering education.

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: April 26th 2021

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: June 25th 2021

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Montaha Bouezzeddine was born in Brih El Chouf, Lebanon. She received the Dipl.Eng. degree in networks and communication systems and a master in engineering research (I-MARS) from INSA- Rennes, France, in 2012 and a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, in 2018. From 2012 to 2017, Montaha worked as a research engineer at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, Germany, on the design of multiport antenna systems for mobile communications. Between 2017 and 2019, Montaha worked at Telit on the design of Bluetooth and BLE hardware, then at Kathrein Automative (currently, Continental) on the design of antennas for automotive applications and at Ford Company, as a technical consultant. In October 2019, she joined Fraunhofer IZM where she is currently a research engineer. Montaha's research interests include MIMO antennas, antenna arrays, millimeter-waves, tunable and reconfigurable antennas, characteristic modes theory, antennas for automative applications, IoT and adaptive tuning and digital control. Dr. Bouezzeddine was the recipient of the ESoA Best Student Paper Award at EUCAP 2016 and received honorary awards in the 2016 student Feko competition and RADIO conference 2016. She serves as a reviewer for international journals.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
