About the book

Respiratory Physiology will be an open access book for students, postgraduates in medicine and healthcare, as well as for the clinicians of different medical specialties. The book will cover most important aspects of human respiration, it’s physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms and impacts on health and disease. Understanding respiratory physiology can aid the practitioners in diagnosing the cause of respiratory symptoms. Dysfunction of any component of respiratory system can lead to respiratory distress or failure. Knowledge of anatomic and physiologic properties of respiratory system in children and adults can explain differences in disease progression, also can help in pre- and perioperative evaluation during surgical procedures.

Except for the theoretical knowledge, the book will provide practical information about respiratory tract diseases. Improved knowledge of human microbiota give new opportunities to change our conception of lung physiology and respiratory health, opening new insights of pulmonary immunology. This book we will also address some aspects of respiratory physiology during sleep. It intends to provide the reader with the most updated information that is based on most recent clinical research.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Ivana Barac

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
