Mineralogy is a branch of geological sciences that deals with crystal structure, physical properties, and chemical composition of minerals, originated in various igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary processes. Mineralogy form also an important background and is of high significance for many other scientific disciplines, including geology, geophysics, economic geology, and environmental sciences.
The book could contain new significant results of investigation of rock-minerals, ore minerals, and accessory minerals that occurred in intrusive, extrusive, metamorphic, and sedimentary rock series in a different part of the world. Mineralogy has a wide spectrum of various scientific methods, inclusive polarisation microscopy, cathodoluminescence, chemical analysis, and microprobe research.
The book could include new contributions about the occurrence and composition of rock-forming minerals (especially micas, feldspars, amphibole, pyroxene), significant accessory minerals (zircon, monazite, xenotime, apatite, allanite, titanite, ilmenite, magnetite), and important ore minerals (galenite, sphalerite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, tetrahedrite, cassiterite, wolframite, Nb-Ta oxides, scheelite, uraninite, coffinite, thorite).
The book could also contain new information about the synthesis of various minerals in laboratory conditions. A significant part of the book could be also new data from planetary mineralogy, especially results of research rocks and minerals from Moon and Mars.
