About the book
This book will be dedicated to several aspects of interaction of electromagnetic radiation covering matters such as the study of dispersive media, causality, energy and entropy, dielectric permittivity models, including models of the permittivity as a function of the frequency like Cole-Cole, Debye, Havriliak Negami and others. The electrical properties of soils with their applications to agriculture, geophysics, and measurement methods, such as the measurement method with transmission lines, capacitive methods, and methods of electromagnetic induction will be discussed.
The book will also cover topics such as the electric field on Earth with the study of atmospheric phenomena, lightning discharge models, cloud charging, radiation from lightning and the applications to electrical engineering and science. The solar-terrestrial environment, sun emissions, geomagnetic fields, induction currents in systems like electrical energy and petroleum are also topics of interest. Finally, the last but not least important topic that we want to discuss in the book is the topic connected to ground penetrating radar (GPR), including principles, radar range equation, resolution, transmitters and receivers, and the applications of the GPR to many subsurface archaeological investigation.
