About the book

Afforestation and reforestation, which corresponds to the establishment of forest stands in sites without and with forest land use, respectively, are of primordial importance to forest sustainability. Forests provide a set of products and services, including woody and non-woody products, soil and habitat conservation, recreation and aesthetics, among others. The perpetuity of the forest and the sustainability of the forest stands and products and services is only attainable with its continuity in space and time, that is with the regeneration of the stands. A set of methods and techniques are available to regenerate stands, thus the importance of the selection of the most adequate.

This book intends to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art. Overall the studies of this publication are intended to cover the following areas: methods of afforestation and reforestation, species selection, site selection and preparation, seed properties and harvest, production of plants in nurseries, seed and plant predation, attacks of abiotic agents to seed and plants, survival and growth of young plants, stand structure and its effects on the reforestation, diversity, system resilience and sustainability

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Ms. Dolores Kuzelj

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
