Afforestation and reforestation, which corresponds to the establishment of forest stands in sites without and with forest land use, respectively, are of primordial importance to forest sustainability. Forests provide a set of products and services, including woody and non-woody products, soil and habitat conservation, recreation and aesthetics, among others. The perpetuity of the forest and the sustainability of the forest stands and products and services is only attainable with its continuity in space and time, that is with the regeneration of the stands. A set of methods and techniques are available to regenerate stands, thus the importance of the selection of the most adequate.
This book intends to provide a comprehensive overview of the current state-of-the-art.
