About the book

The future societal needs deeply rely on access to cheap and abundant sources of energy. The high percentage of the world’s energy requirement is being provided by non-renewable resources like oil, coal, and natural gas, which assists global warming and has baleful effects on our environment. Nowadays, there is an urgent and drastically increasing need for environmentally friendly and renewable energy technologies from CO2-neutral sources. This can be successfully addressed by the photoelectric conversion of clean and plentiful solar energy. The possibility to generate electricity in situ by small (even individual) production plants, the limited environmental impact with zero carbon dioxide generation and the easy building integration, make solar energy the best solution for electricity production in rural and isolated areas. This book will guide and discuss the best research-cell efficiencies.

The main objective of writing this book is to introduce a current state-of-the-art of the highest confirmed conversion efficiencies for research cells for a range of photovoltaic technologies. This book will subject and highlight the recent development which related to Multi-junction Cells, Single-Junction GaAs, Thin-Film Technologies, Emerging photovoltaics.

The book will be of interest for wide readership and hopefully it will guide the researchers, engineering and postgraduates students to stand-up for photovoltaic device technology.

Applications to edit the book are assessed and a suitable editor is selected, at which point the process begins.

Chapter proposals submitted and reviewed

Deadline Extended: Open for Submissions

Potential authors submit chapter proposals ready for review by the academic editor and our publishing review team.

Approved chapters written in full and submitted

Deadline for full chapters: August 14th 2020

Once approved by the academic editor and publishing review team, chapters are written and submitted according to pre-agreed parameters

Full chapters peer reviewed

Review results due: November 2nd 2020

Full chapter manuscripts are screened for plagiarism and undergo a Main Editor Peer Review. Results are sent to authors within 30 days of submission, with suggestions for rounds of revisions.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: January 1st 2021

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

Ahmed Mourtada Elseman

Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute

Ahmed Mourtada Elseman obtained his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Inorganic and Analytical Chemistry from the Faculty of Science, Al-Azhar University, Egypt. He earned his Ph.D. in perovskite solar cells in February 2017. He obtained two diplomas, first one from Inner Mongolia Institute of Science and Technology, Hohhot, China 2015, and the second one from the Institute of New Energy, Wuhan, China, 2017. He currently works as Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic and Magnetic Materials, Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI), Egypt. He was awarded the Talent Young Scientific (TYSP) Postdoctoral Research Fellow position funded by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and organized by North China Electric Power University, Beijing, China, 2017-2018. After that, he received a lecturer position in the School of Materials and Energy, Southwest University, Chongqing. China (2018 – 2020). During his work at Southwest University, he received a project funded by Central Universities for efficient perovskite solar cells (ID: XDJK2019C005). He was also awarded the CMRDI prize for excellence scientific publication (2018). His current research focuses on understanding the mechanisms, fundamental properties, and developing scalable protocols for high-efficiency perovskite solar cells. He is a reviewer and a member of the editorial board for certain international journals.

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors.
