About the book

Water is a critical resource for the existence of life. Water resources are currently under immense threat due to a number of external factors such as urbanization, population growth, unsustainable use and climate change among others. Management of water resources is therefore critical to ensure future water security of a nation and also to conserve the ecosystem. Some of the ways, to ensure judicious water management are by (1) policy changes to safeguard water security and to resolve water conflicts between nations, (2) sustainable use of available water resources using knowledge gained from experimental as well as modelling studies, and also through (3) revival of existing static and dynamic water bodies. This book intends to provide the reader with a comprehensive overview of the available water resources, issues pertaining to water scarcity, contamination of available water resources, impact of climate change on water resources, current policies in place pertaining to water governance, use of various tools to aid in urban water management and also innovative water body revival strategies practiced in different parts of the world.
