About the book

This book will collect new information on the pre and postharvest practices that affect strawberry yield and fruit quality. Horticulture industry is changing rapidly due to environmental, economical and social constraints and strawberry industry is no exception. Climate change, migration and economic challenges are a few examples. The science is also changing rapidly as new technologies have emerged. Large amount of data have been generated in many research areas and they need to be incorporated into the established practices. Hyperspectral imaging, genome sequencing and big data projects are a few examples of the research field that generates a large amount of data. These information need to be integrated into the available production and storage practices or create new and innovative practices that improves yield and fruit quality of strawberries. The next step would be to inform researchers and growers of the latest information from the research community on the new and improved methods both before and after harvest that may affect strawberry yield and fruit quality. This book will collect and represent information in these areas of research.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mr. Mateo Pulko

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copyediting and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
