About the book

"Indium" is a compilation of information on the materials, properties, and applications of indium metal, which is important in optical, structural, morphological and electronics industries and a component of certain alloys. The aims of "Indium" is to provide significant information available on the material, physics, and chemistry of indium. The last two decades have seen a renaissance in interest in the chemistry of the main group elements. In particular, research on the metals of group 13 has led to the synthesis and isolation of some very novel and unusual molecules, with implications for organometallic synthesis, new materials development with potential applications, and with biological, medical and, environmental implications. Indium aims to cover new facts, developments and applications in the context of more general patterns of the physical and chemical behavior of indium element as well as their oxide, nitride, sulfides and so on. Particular attention is given to the main growth areas, including the chemistry of lower formal oxidation states, cluster chemistry, the investigation of solid oxides and hydroxides, advances in the formation of III-V and related compounds, the biological significance of Group 13 metal complexes, and the growing importance of the metals and their compounds in the mediation of organic as well as inorganic reactions.

This book aims to give an overview of the history, physical, morphological, optical, and chemical properties of the element indium. Methods for the detection, separation, and determination of indium, including special methods for its determination in industrial and natural products will be discussed and evaluated in step by step.

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

About the editor

Mohammed Muzibur Rahman

Mohammed Muzibur Rahman received his BSc and MSc from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh, in 1999 and 2001, respectively. He received his Ph.D. from Chonbuk National University, South Korea, in 2007. After his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral fellowship and assistant professor in pioneering research centers and universities located in South Korea, Japan, and Saudi Arabia (2007–2011). Since 2011 he has been working as a professor in the Center of Excellence for Advanced Materials Research and the Chemistry Department at King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. He has published more than 292 international articles, attended 52 international and domestic conferences, 4 US patents; published several book chapters, and 12 books as an editor. His research work has been largely in the area of nanoparticles, carbon nanotubes, nanotechnology, sensors, ionic liquid, surface chemistry, electrochemistry, instrumental science, nanomaterials, self-assembled monolayers, photochemistry, chips and devices, etc.

Introducing your Author Service Manager

Mr. Josip Knapic

As an Author Service Manager my responsibilities include monitoring and facilitating all publishing activities for authors and editors. From chapter submission and review, to approval and revision, copy-editing and design, until final publication, I work closely with authors and editors to ensure a simple and easy publishing process. I maintain constant and effective communication with authors, editors and reviewers, which allows for a level of personal support that enables contributors to fully commit and concentrate on the chapters they are writing, editing, or reviewing. I assist authors in the preparation of their full chapter submissions and track important deadlines and ensure they are met. I help to coordinate internal processes such as linguistic review, and monitor the technical aspects of the process. As an ASM I am also involved in the acquisition of editors. Whether that be identifying an exceptional author and proposing an editorship collaboration, or contacting researchers who would like the opportunity to work with IntechOpen, I establish and help manage author and editor acquisition and contact.
