About the book

This book will cover all aspects of bee production, from basics to the most advanced. It will deal with the subject of anatomy and physiology of bees, behavior, swarm and their control, as well as topics on other species of bees in the world. Some of the topics included are: productive aspects of honey production with different systems and types of hives besides the other products of the hive such as royal jelly, propolis, nucleus formation, and pollination among others; aspects related to the diseases of adult bees and larvae and their new control techniques; and problems caused by insecticides, herbicides and fungicides on hives and honey and how they should be faced in cases of poisoning by these products. In addition to the above, the book will also cover aspects of the use of beehive products on peoples' health, such as apitoxin, propolis and royal jelly, as well as their production on a commercial scale. Book will also discuss the preservation problems of bees and other pollinators worldwide, and strategies of solution and conservation of the species.

Book compiled, published and promoted

Expected publication date: March 20th 2020

All chapters are copy-checked and typesetted before being published. IntechOpen regularly submits its books to major databases for evaluation and coverage, including the Clarivate Analytics Book Citation Index in the Web of ScienceTM Core Collection. Other discipline-specific databases are also targeted, such as Web of Science's BIOSIS Previews.

About the editor

Ramón Eduardo Rebolledo Ranz

Dr. Rebolledo obtained his agronomist title in 1986 from the Austral University of Chile. He later obtained his doctorate degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain in 1994. Since 1986 he has been an academician at University of La Frontera, Chile where he teaches Agricultural Entomology, Apiculture, Zoology, and Environmental Entomology both at undergraduate and at postgraduate levels. Dr. Rebolledo has directed 90 pre- and post-graduate theses (magister and doctoral). He has published 85 scientific articles in scientific journals, a book, and three book chapters. He has presented more than 90 scientific works in different scientific congresses, both national and international. He has participated in 17 research projects both as a principal investigator and co-researcher. Dr. Rebolledo has organized more than once congresses Scientific Entomology, Beekeeping, and Conservation of Renewable Resources, and has delivered more than 60 conference proceedings at congresses in the area of apiculture and meetings of apicultural networks. In addition to the above, he has been a senior manager at the university where he works. Dr. Rebolledo has also been president of scientific societies of entomology, conservation of renewable resources, and beekeeping.
