About the book
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common infectious diseases. It is estimated that half of the women suffer from at least one symptomatic UTI during their lifetime. The direct cause of UTI is the bacterial invasion of the urinary tract. Besides, some factors, such as urinary tract obstruction, indwelling catheterization, nephrolithiasis, and pregnant, may contribute to the occurrence of UTI. Despite the emergence of numerous new broad-spectrum antibiotics, management of UTI remains a challenge due to the formation of bacterial biofilm and the antibiotic resistance of bacteria. It is also a big issue of how to prevent the recurrence of UTI.
This book intends to provide the readers with a comprehensive overview of UTI, as well as the details in diagnosis, treatment and prevention of UTI. Not only will the current evidence be presented, but also the authors’ experience will be introduced, which may help the readers to understand UTI more deeply.
